You will Never Believe this....
Or maybe you will... but I didnt believe it when it happened...
Missy's shady BEHIND did not show up!!!!
Sure, she'd been on the radio ALL day talking about her performance. Sure, they had people who actually bought tickets for this thing and paid at least $20 (thank goodness, we were not one of them). And sure, the club even seemed to think she was coming as they handed everyone Missy specific 3D glasses (seemingly for her new video, which is in 3D)... but nonetheless, she was a definite no-show.
We left around 2am, when it was quite clear she wasnt making an appearance. But after we thought about it, the signs were there from the start. Russ Parr was hosting the night, talking so very much, asking the crowd how excited they were to see Missy, and everything... but at some point, maybe around midnight... Russ Parr was clearly gone.
Another sign... how many club concerts have you been to where the performance occurs after the DJ has gotten into a groove and is playing the new hot music? I've never been to one... and I think I've been to my fair share of club concerts. Usually, the artist(s) comes on, does their set, everyone's all hyped about it, and then the DJ starts doing his thing. This never happened last night.
The final straw, however, was when someone came up to the DJ around 1:45am, whispered something in his ear, and you could see the DJ shake his head in disbelief and look at the guy like, "oh man, we might just have a riot in here."
Either way, we didnt wait to see what was going to happen when the packed club of people finally realized there would be no Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliot. At 2am, we were out of the club, walking back to the car... feeling so thankful we got in for free.
(Not exactly the concert story I was planning on writing, but hey... life's what happens when plans go awry, right?)
